Problems Of Misusing Chinese Conjunction Words In E-C Translation And Relevant Solutions

The paper is a report on a 10,000-word English-Chinese translation task.The author selects some sections from Jenny Williams and Andrew Chesterman's The Map-A Beginner's Guide to Doing Research in Translation Studies and Susan Bassnett's Translation Studies.The reason why the author selects translation theory texts is that the translation of such theoretical texts is helpful for learning theoretical knowledge of translation and thus the professional level of the author can be improved,so the original text of this translation task is very useful learning material.The report summarizes and explores some misuse problems of Chinese conjunction words resulting from three points: lack of context awareness,nonstandard expression forms and lack of comprehension ability.For such problems and their causes,the author comes up with corresponding solutions and hopes to provide useful ideas for the author and other translators.The report is divided into five chapters.Chapter 1 is introduction,which explains the reason for choosing the project,research significance and research content.Chapter 2 is about the process of the project,including preparation before translation,translation process and proofreading and revision after translation.In Chapter 3,misuse problems of Chinese conjunction words in English-Chinese translation are discussed.These problems mainly cover two types,omission and wrong use of Chinese conjunction words.After analyzing the causes for the problems,the author summarizes and proposes relevant solutions in Chapter 4.The solutions include understanding the logic of the original,enhancing context awareness,enriching Chinese language knowledge and standardizing expression forms.Chapter 5 is the conclusion which summarizes what the author has learnt in the translation practice.
