The Cultural Contact Between Khitan And Foreigners In Khitan Loanwords

The history of Khitan with written records can be traced back to the fourth century.Until conquered by Mongolia at the beginning of the 13 th century,West Liao had been active for more than 900 years on the Mongolian plateau.The Khitans initially struggled to survive between Tang and Turkic,and both Tang and Turkism implemented different degrees of separation and assimilation policies toward the Khitan tribes.With the development of the Khitan and capture of some of the surrounding cities that originally belonged to the Tang and the Khitan,some Turkic and Tang cultures were also absorbed to form a unique Liao culture.In this unique integrated culture,these three parts influence each other and also penetrate each other while maintaining an independent system.As the official language of the Khitan nationality,the Khitan script is originated from the Altaic language Mongolian family,and used until the Jin dynasty period.The application scope covers official documents,inscriptions,inscriptions,books and other aspects.In the process of its formation,the Khitan script was also influenced by the Tang culture and the Turkic culture.In its speech morphemes,it absorbed some of the relevant vocabularies and formed a unique loanword.Most of the loanwords in the Khitan script are about official titles,which is a reflection of the Liao Dynasty's unique "southern and northern official" system.The “southern” official system mostly inherits the Tang system,while the “northern” official system comes from the Turkic system.Through the analysis of the loanwords in the Khitan script,we will be able to interpret some of the credible but incomplete historical records,and can also supplement different historical records with the same historical data.Through the recovery and analysis of the Liao Dynasty official system via loanword,we can also study the history of the Liao Dynasty political system.
