Semantic transparency is the extent to which the semantics of a compound word can be inferred from the semantics of its constituent morphemes.Its operability is defined as the degree of semantic relevance of the whole word to its morpheme.There are subjective factors such as language background,learning level,and individual differences of foreign students that affect international students' understanding of compound words.There are also objective factors that Chinese compound words constitute.Regardless of the differences in the complexity of Chinese characters,semantic transparency is a key factor influencing the understanding of vocabulary of foreign students.The structure of compound words is also one of the important factors affecting semantic transparency.This article is mainly based on the perspective of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,studying the effects of semantic transparency and the structure of compound words.It also analyzes the errors that Chinese students at the elementary level make in learning the word meanings of two-syllable compound words and analyzes the causes of errors.From the perspective of suggestions,the purpose is to make the Chinese students learn Chinese two-syllable compound words more efficiently.This paper first analyzes the three-syllable compound words appearing in the vocabulary of Chinese comprehensive curriculum for elementary level Chinese language development from three aspects: the structure of compound words,the transparency of compound words,and the word frequency of compound words.At the same time,a questionnaire survey was conducted to study the effects of transparency and compound word structure on the guessing of foreign students' word meanings.Compound word classification is based on two aspects of transparency level and compound word structure.At the same time,the students' errors of comprehension in the questionnaires were summed up,and the reasons for the errors in the process of comprehension of the meanings of the foreign students were found out.Finally,based on the records and analysis of the primary language compound vocabulary pedagogic class cases,we summarize the problems and solutions in the teaching process.Based on the analysis and research of the previous chapters,this paper proposes some suggestions for improving the teaching methods of elementary Chinese compound words from the perspective of morpheme-based teaching methods.
