Effective classroom interaction plays an important role in improving college students' oral English proficiency. Many universities employ foreign teachers for spoken English class.Related research shows that although foreign teachers create a real language environment for students, due to cultural differences and other issues, the teaching effect still needs to be improved. The present study aims to explore how effective the interaction is in oral English classes taught by foreign English teachers and what affect significantly students' interaction. With non-participant observations, interviews and a questionnaire, this study finds that in spite of the fact that students gain equal opportunities to speak up;there is not sufficient interaction between the teacher and students.Oral English classes are given teacher-centered,with the teacher instructing to students and raising the training-type questions mostly. In the nature of participation, students are found more emotionally involved, rather than behaviorally, since teachers respond actively and positively to students. The results also indicate that the unsatisfactory English proficiency, lack of self-confidence and the topics chosen in class evidently affect students' interaction in oral English class.
