Study On Folk Characters Of Documents Of Baxian In Xianfeng Period

Selection of Government Documents in Baxian in the Qing Dynasty(all 16 volumes)was edited by Sichuan Provincial Archives Bureau,and published by Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House in 2011.This version was selected as a photocopy of Baxian documents during Xianfeng period,which truly restores the original appearance of the Baxian documents and is an important part of writing documents.It records the true situation of characters at that period,including a large number of folk characters.After a thorough reading of all the volumes,this paper collects the folk characters and analyses them based on the corpus.Besides the conclusion part,this paper is divided into five chapters:The first chapter illustrates the research status of Baxian documents,and discusses issues in society,economics,law and religion.Then this part presents the conception of folk characters,and summarizes the folk characters' research situation in modern time,which includes document files recently.According to Selection of Government Documents in Baxian in the Qing Dynasty(all 16 volumes)and other research results,the second chapter collects the folk characters and then builds a word table,which presents the features of them.Based on the first two parts,the third chapter selects and explains some folk characters which are not explained or are explained incorrectly in other researches.To an extent,this work helps people to read clearly,and complements dictionaries.The forth part summarizes four features of the documents mentioned before: strong analogy,semi-simplification,local and universality.The fifth character evaluates the value from four aspects: First,it provides a case to other dictionaries.Second,it complements the words of dictionaries.Third,it furnishes a clearer understanding of simplified words.Forth,it shows the inherent rules of the evolution of folk characters.All in all,this study not only adds the blank of the research of folk characters in Baxian documents,but also offers a solid foundation to dictionaries.In addition,it supplements some new words and its definitions in this field,and helps other researchers to learn the evolution of folk characters.
