An Internship Report On Trans-editing English News In The Broad View Column Of Huanqiu.com

With the rapid development of globalization,China has been connected closely to other countries in various fields,such as politics,economics,technology and so on.International social news plays a vital role in promoting national exchanges,enhancing mutual understanding among nations.As a form of secondary information transmission,news trans-editing domesticates foreign news and promotes the transmission of information among different countries.This report is based on the author's trans-editing practice in Huanqiu.com.In this report,the author elaborately introduces the background of the trans-editing project provided by Huanqiu.com,the characteristics of the job as well as the trans-editor's responsibility.The author also theoretically bases her analysis on Bitzer's Rhetorical Situation Theory.Based on the differences between Chinese and English news' linguistic structures,the author adopts translation strategies of tense changes and information supplements in trans-editing news titles.The author also focuses on the issue of translating and editing news leads,by taking the methods of mentioning the source of information,and reconstructing information.In addition,the author discusses the issue of translating news text from three aspects: unit conversion,translation of passive constructions and translation of direct quotations.The author then discusses the process of polishing trans-edited drafts to achieve optimal communication effects for her works of the “Look” news section.The author hopes to enhance translation skills and accumulate news translating and editing experience.The author wants to use this experience to fully prepare herself for a future career with a media company.Moreover,the author hopes that she can summarize what has learnt during this internship,which involves the need to scientifically and effectively prepare before translating,and closely following and learning about new media communication techniques,along with offering corresponding study recommendations.Finally,these activities are expected to provide references for the MTI students who are dedicated to trans-editing work,and to make contribution to China's news trans-editing industry as well.
