A Study On The Protection Situation Of Ewenki Language

This paper mainly studies the maintenance and protection of Ewenki Language.It consists of 5 parts(introduction,three main chapters,conclusion.Ewenki nationality,mainly distributing in Hulun Buir League in Inner Mongolia,is one of minorities with relatively fewer population in China.Ewenki Language,as an endangered language without written form,is facing the severe threat of being extinct and calls for immediate action.The introduction introduces the significance of the research,research review,research approaches and theoretical basis.The Chapter One analyzes the collected data in Hui County,Ewenki Autonomous Banner,Hulun Buir,and summarizes the problems and status quo of Ewenki Language maintenance in the area.By doing interview and filling questionnaires with 156 interviews one by one,the author guaranteed the effectiveness of the data.The questionnaire questions cover native language usage,language attitude,language maintenance policies,factors that hinder language application and sense of national pride etc.The Second Chapter mainly analyzes the Ewenki Language maintenance features and influencing elements.Centralized residence and maintenance of traditional life style of Hui County ensured the relatively positive language maintenance situation of the region,which features strong language competence,high language application frequency,deep language affection,and positive language attitude.The main factors that affect language usage include lack of written form,educational degree,scattered living situation,marriage view,language attitude,language policy etc.The Chapter three focuses on the measures of language maintenance.For a minority like Ewenki,the protection of its language mainly relies on national and local government policies.The paper applies the language policy theory of Bernard Sbosky to come up with concrete and feasible language maintenance approaches from various perspectives such as family,community,NGO,local government etc.The conclusion summarizes the whole paper in the following five angles:the protection situation of Ewenki Language,suggestions for minority language protection policies,reflection over endangered languages,the language rules and ideas inspired during the survey.
