English is a communicative language tool,acting as the bridge between Chinese and Western cultures.English culture is the treasure of world cultures and the representative of western cultures.The distance between language learners and the world culture is shortened by learning English.College English teaching involves the transmission and learning of a lot of knowledge,such as western political system,values,cultural tradition,social life,customs and religious belief etc.It is inevitable for the English majors to contact a lot of western cultures and thoughts.And it is especially important to help them resist the attacks of the decadent western ideas on their values as well as improve their language skills.Therefore,it is a must for professional English teaching to master the ideological-political trend of the college students,helping them build correct values,truly improving their ability of moral judgment and getting their polity quality fully improved.It is a necessary request to penetrate ideological and political education in the English teaching to correctly lead the contemporary college students to build core socialist values.President Xi Jinping emphasizes that colleges and universities should take morality education as the key link and penetrate the ideological and political education in the whole process of education and teaching,realizing the “whole-process moral education” and “all-sided moral education”.College and university teachers should work hard to be the transmitter of advanced ideological cultures,the staunch supporter of the party's ruling,and better shoulder the responsibility of leading the students to grow up healthily.The thesis includes five parts.Part 1 is an introduction,which introduces the research background,significance,research results at home and abroad as well as research ideas and methods.Part 2 is a summary of penetration of ideological and political education in college English teaching.It introduces the requests of college and university English major and threespecialties,and discuss the relationship between ideological and political education and English major education based on the Marxist Epistemology and Penetrating Theory of Ideological and Political Education.Part 3 discusses the ideological and political education's feasibility and necessity in college English teaching.It is not only the request of the current policies to penetrate ideological and political education in the English major teaching,but the responsibilities of the college and university teachers.Part four takes the Foreign Language Department of Hanjiang Normal University as respondent and conducts the questionnaire survey through the way of QQ and WeChat.According to the questionnaire survey data,it analyzes the problems existing in the current ideological and political education penetration in College English teaching,and analyzes the causes of the problems,which are lacking of attention,penetrating weakening of the college and university teachers,restriction of education model and forcing penetrating of the western cultures.Part 5 introduces the penetration principles of Ideological and political education in College English teaching,and presents the strategies for penetration of Ideological and political education in College English teaching: insist morality educational concept,improve the comprehensive quality of the English major teachers,strengthen the teachers' professional ethics,guide the students to build correct values by optimizing teaching content and conduct all-sided education through comprehensive quality education.
