The Five-dimensional Narrative Strategy Of Urban Communication

The 21 st Century is the century of a city.From the perspective of global competition,The city is a business card of a country.From the perspective of human daily life,the city is our spiritual home.In 2013,at the National Conference on propaganda work,General Secretary Xi Jinping put forward the strategic idea of “Telling Chinese Stories Well and spreading Chinese Voice”.The concept was put forward as a national strategy immediately,which marks the update on the concept of foreign communication at the national level and the start of the strategic turn.In terms of a city,following the national strategy and telling city stories are the ways to construct city image and enhance discourse skills and abilities.This paper first reviews the theory of urban image and urban narratology,and finds out some shortcomings in the study of urban narrative,and puts forward the concept of “city is story”,which regards the city as the story itself,and the buildings and the streets in the city as part of the story,with the streets in the city as part of the story.The street in city is a story net interwoven by elements in the city.Events in the city are collective memories and common value orientations.Then it puts forward the five dimensional construction strategy of "story city".Through the five dimensions of "people,thing,object,spot and situation",the city is constructed into a city with a story,which is a spiritual home with historical memory,cultural inheritance,value identification and emotional attachment.Finally,we use the five dimensional construction strategy of the story city to analyze the selected city image advertising videos of "Telling Wuhan Stories Well",and construct a five dimensional narrative corpus of Wuhan city image,point out the deficiencies of these films and give suggestions.
