A Report On Interpreting For China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition

With the progress of Belt and Road Initiative,international exhibition has become an important platform for exchanges between countries,which contributes to technical communication and cultural transmission and promotes Chinese products on a global scale.Escort interpretation plays an indispensable role in the smooth progress of the exhibition.The transcript of this report is from the escort interpretation of the 14^th China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition.As an interpreter employed by Shandong New Chenghua Exhibition Co.,Ltd.,the author is responsible for C-E and E-C interpreting for a Nepalese couple to help them communicate with the Chinese exhibitors.The report describes the interpretation task,interpreting process and the feedback.Based on the Interpretive Theory and the experience of interpreting practice,the author summarizes the factors influencing the interpreting,such as accent and short-term memory,and analyzes five tactics to cope with the difficulty,such as paraphrase,consultation,addition,deletion and explanation.The report aims to have a self-evaluation of the author’s interpreting,to improve her interpreting skills,and to provide reference for other escort interpreters.
