Studies on anxiety have drawn great attention from scholars at home and abroad. Some scholars studied anxiety from the perspective of schema theory, but studies on auditory anxiety in interpreting from the angle of schema theory is still rare. This thesis studies auditory anxiety from the angle of schema theory and aims to answer the following research questions: What are the sources and impacts of auditory anxiety? How to use schema theory to reduce auditory anxiety? To answer these questions,a small-scale experiment and questionnaire survey are used to analyze the sources and impacts of auditory anxiety and explore the facilitative role of schema in reducing auditory anxiety. The following conclusions are reached.Firstly, the sources of auditory anxiety can be divided into psychological factors and linguistic factors. The factors include negative mental state, difficulties in listening comprehension, confusions resulting from strong accent, complicated vocabularies and complex syntax.Secondly, interpreters can consciously activate different schema to reduce auditory anxiety, and different schema can eliminate ambiguity, improve memory, predict content, save interpreting time and energy, thus improving interpreting quality.
