Materialistic values are ones that individuals emphasize the importance of material wealth.After the reform and opening-up,with the rapid development of economy,China is unprecedentedly abundant in material wealth.Therefore people increasingly pursue and possess material wealth.The values of material wealth have changed a lot.Money worship,utilitarianism and materialism prevail quietly,and all these have a negative effect on teenagers.Teenagers as successors and builders of socialism,the formation of their values not only influences the development of personal future,but also connects with the whole nation's future.Materialists believe that having a large amount of material wealth is the source of happiness.Can materialists actually achieve the desired happiness in material possessions?It is of great significance to understand the basic characteristics of materialistic values and the influence mechanism of materialistic values on subjective well-being,thus being beneficial to the mental development of the juvenile.Based on this,this study with 430 high school students as the research objects,research tools including uses the materialism values scale,self harmony scale,multi-level college students subjective well-being scale,inspects basic characteristics of high school students' materialism values,analyses the relations among materialism values,self-harmony and subjective well-being,and probes into the role played by high school students' self-harmony in materialism values and subjective well-being,which offers sufficient evidence to set up the correct values of materialism and to improve the level of subjective well-being,and promote the development of high school students' mental health.The conclusions of this study are as follows:1.There are significant differences in sex,family location,only child,single parent family,and grade population in high school students' materialistic values and their dimensions.Specifically,girls are more inclined to pursue happiness through obtaining property than boys,and the total score of materialism and taking obtaining property as the center of urban high school students' score are significantly higher than those of rural students in pursuit of happiness through obtaining property.The scores of one-child high school students in the total score and every dimension of materialism are significantly higher than those of the non-one-child high school students;the single-parent families have higher scores in thedimension of obtaining property and pursuing happiness through the acquisition of property than those of non-single-parent families.The scores of the third grade students in the total score of materialistic values and the dimension of obtaining property are significantly higher than those of the first and second year students.2.Materialistic values,self-harmony and subjective well-being are significantly correlated.The concrete manifestation is that the score of materialistic value and the score of disharmony between self and experience are positively correlated,that is,the higher the value of materialism is,the lower the level of self-harmony will be;the higher the score of materialistic value and the types of existence and development,the higher the value of materialism,the lower the level of self-harmony will be.The subjective happiness score of transcendental type is significantly negative,that is,the higher the materialistic values,the lower the level of subjective well-being of survival type,developmental type and transcendental type;The score of transcendental subjective well-being is negatively correlated,that is,the higher the level of self-harmony,the higher the survival and development.The higher the level of transcendental subjective well-being.3.Self-harmony has a significant intermediary effect between materialistic values and subjective well-being.The concrete manifestation is that the disharmony of self-harmonious self and experience play partly an intermediary role in materialistic values and survival subjective well-being.The self-harmonious self and the disharmony of experience play a completely mediating role in materialistic values and developing subjective well-being.Self-harmonious self and disharmony of experience play partly an intermediary role in materialistic values and meta subjective well-being.
