As an ancient literary image,There are many descriptions about "graveyard" in traditional literature. In modern and contemporary literary, the "graveyard" image is also distributed in many works. In the novels of Yan Lianke, the "graveyard" image is displayed more repetitively. As a contemporary writer with a strong local consciousness,Yan Lianke connects tradition and modernity, life and death, and reality and folk.Through the portrayal of the “graveyard” image group,he constructs a large and authentic rural world.Researching the image of "graveyard" in Yan Lianke's novels not only can provide a new research perspective for the scholars to study Yan Lianke's entire creation, but also systematically combs the traditional image of "graveyard" and further excavates its artistic value. This article is divided into three parts. The first part grasps the image of "graveyard" in Yan Lianke's novels from the perspective of the relationship between "graveyard" and death.First of all,the “graveyard” has directly pointing to death. The image of“graveyard” presents a strange pattern of death in the countryside, and the repeated depiction of the “graveyard” image is inseparable from the death-awareness of Yan Lianke. In short,death-awareness,death expression and the image of "graveyard" constitute an interconnected whole.Secondly,as a special space, the most striking feature of graveyard is that the internal and external space distinguish between life and death, however, the living and the dead presents a state of emotional communication in the graveyard space.Although the deceased in the tomb has died,it can still inspire the diverse emotions of the living.and the living performs a series of personnel activities at the specific place(or space)of the graveyard to reach a spiritual interaction with the dead,in addition, these funeral customs also constitute a rich cultural connotation. The second part analyzes the overall appearance of the image of "graveyard" in Yan Lianke's novels from the perspective of image construction. On the one hand, the image of "cemetery" is an important image in Yan Lianke's novels. In addition to its basic forms:skeletons, tombs, and gravestones,it also juxtaposes with other images of animals and plants and ghost images, thus constituting the image of "graveyard".Through the analysis of these imagery elements, this chapter shows the cultural connotation of the“graveyard” image in Yan Lianke's novels. On the other hand, this chapter also analyzes how Yan Lianke constructed the image of the “graveyard” except for the traditional realistic realism.Apart from the traditional realistic realism techniques, some modernist artistic techniques have also been adopted in the presentation of the image of the“graveyard”,which has enabled the “graveyard” image to have more modern aesthetics. The third part summarizes the artistic function of the image of "graveyard" in Yan Lianke's novels from two dimensions of narrative function and metaphorical function.First of all, from the perspective of narrative function, the image of "graveyard" plays an important role in enriching the deep structure of Yan Lianke's novels and shaping the character's image. At the same time, starting from the metaphorical function, this chapter analyzes the two metaphorical aspects of the image of the “graveyard” in Yan Lianke's novels: the critique of secularized power and money worship and the parable writing of life experience. With the help of the "graveyard" image,he achieved a profound reflection on social reality and a metaphysical philosophical reflection on life.
