A Report On Translation Of The Humanistic Records Of Chinese Ice And Snow Culture(Excerpt)

With the continuous improvement of people's living standard,the ice and snow tour revenue has played an important role in local economic development.Ice and snow culture has attracted more and more domestic and foreign tourists to come,so tour brochures have become important means by which tourists at home and abroad can know ice and snow culture and the features of Heilongjiang Province.Meanwhile,the translation of these tour materials would be a crucial medium for tour promotion and cultural output.This is a Chinese-English practice report on translation of the Humanistic Records of Chinese Ice and Snow Culture(excerpt).The translation work is based on the translation practice of the seventh chapter--New Ice and Snow Culture of Olympic Winter Games,which is written by Li Zhen from Harbin Normal University.The main idea of this paper is to discuss and deal with the problems and difficulties in lexical,syntactic and textual level under the guidance of dynamic equivalence by Eugene A Nida.In this process of translation,what I should do is to try my best to ensure the accuracy of the information,the culture connotation and the aesthetic perception of the original text.There are four chapters totally in this paper.The first chapter mainly introduces the translation tasks and requirements from the client.The second chapter,including some essential preparations for translation,mainly comprises the preparations of the theory,the analysis of the parallel texts,the features of language and the cultural features of the original text.The third chapter--“case studies” is the core part,discussing the translation and analyzing the cases from the perspective of lexical,syntactic and textual level.Finally,the reflection of translation practice will be reached.The author sincerely hope that this paper can increase Heilongjiang's attraction and provide some references for translation work in the field of related texts.
