English Translation Of Political Texts From The Perspective Of Political Correctness

In the context of new era when China is faced with a rising demand from the rest of the world to know more about China's political development,there is an increasing need for English translation of China's political texts.The mission is significant.However,translators who fail to abide by political correctness in English translation of such texts may cast adverse impacts on China's image in the world.This thesis is a case study on the English translation of The Great Way of China: The Communist Party of China and the Chinese Socialism,a book published in 2015 by the Renmin Univesity of China Press in Beijing.Through an analysis of textual acteristics manifested in English translation of China-specific political terms,terms with Chinese political sensitivity,rhetorical devices contained in the book,this thesis proposes some strategies for translators to tackle the problems caused by the missing guidance,political correctness,when translating such Chinese political texts into English.It is expected that this thesis will help translators to have a better understanding of political correctness and offer a helpful guidance for the translation of similar Chinese political texts in the future.
