A Study Of English Translation Of Chinese Patent Medicine Instructions

In recent years,with the frequent international communication in the medicine field,Chinese medicine has gained more and more international attention.The quality of English translation of Chinese patent medicine instructions plays an important role in promoting Chinese medicine culture and Chinese patent medicine in the international market.However,affected by language and culture,the translation of Chinese patent medicine instructions does not have a unified translation standardization and a guiding translation theory.The current translation of Chinese patent medicine instructions is in a chaos which seriously affects the foreign consumers' deep understanding of Chinese medicine culture and Chinese patent medicine.In light of functional equivalence theory,this thesis discusses the English translation of Chinese patent medicine instructions.The author analyzes the existing problems of English translation of Chinese patent medicine instructions.By using some examples,some useful suggestions can be made to improve the translation quality of Chinese patent medicine instructions.This thesis contains six chapters.The first chapter introduces the research background,research significance and structure of this thesis.The second chapter is literature review,previous researches on the translation of Chinese patent medicine instructions and Chinese medicine translation under the guidance of functional equivalence theory are summarized.The third chapter is the methodology.It includes research subjects,research methods,research questions and the procedures.The fourth chapter analyzes the existing problems of the translation of Chinese patent medicine instructions and the causes of these problems.The fifth chapter is the discussion,it analyzes the translation methods of Chinese patent medicine instructions under the guidance of functional equivalence theory.The sixth chapter is the conclusion,it concludes the results and limitations of this study,and some suggestions for further studies are also pointed out.
