An E-C Translation Report On The Application Of Parts Of Speech Conversion

The original text of this translation is selected from the Using Positive Psychology Every Day by Ernst Bohlmeijer and Monique Hulsbergen.This book is about the art of living.It brings together the essence of positive psychology and introduces eight evidence-based resources of well-being and flourishing: positive emotions,the discovering and use of strengths,optimism,compassion,post-traumatic growth,positive relationships,and spirituality.This corpus is a practical text,which is a type of standard information text and possessing the linguistic characteristics of functionalism and stylization.In the process of translation,in response to these linguistic features,the translator combines John Cunnison Catford's translation shifts theory and is under the guidance of The Theory and Practice of Translation by Eugene Nida,adopting different translation strategies during the translating process of the original text.When translating,the translator found that there were many difficulties in the mutual conversion of various parts of speech.Therefore,this report will focus on the application of the E-C translation of parts of speech conversion translation strategy.Under the guidance of translation shifts theory,the translator adopts the translation strategy of parts of speech conversion to deal with the difficulties in different contexts,semantics and language features of Chinese.The report is divided into the following five parts: The first part mainly introduces the authors of the selected corpus and their works,and also gives a brief introduction to the corpus.The second part is to describe the translation process,and as well as put forward the difficulties in this translation.The third part introduces the theoretical basis-John Cunnison Catford's translation shifts theory,and it also gives a brief description of the research status of translation and parts of speech conversion strategy at home and abroad.Chapter 4 is the main part of this report,which the translator makes a specific analysis of the text through the strategy of parts of speech conversion.In the last part,the translator summarizes the experience and harvest during this process and analyzes my own shortcomings,so as to make continuous improvement in future translation practice activities.
