The original text is a part of the science fiction—Ratner's Star.Science fiction was born in the 19 th century and was one of the special products after the rise of European industrial civilization. After the industrial revolution, science and technologies developed greatly, and all subjects concerned about the future fate of mankind inevitably involve the future science and technologies. At the same time,an excellent science fiction is rooted in social reality and reflects contradictions and problems in social reality.Generally speaking,a good science fiction has three elements: “logical self-consistency”,“scientific element” and“humanistic thinking”.Ratner's Star is written by Don Delillo and published in 1976.Ratner's Star mainly tells a story about a research group trying to decode. They thought the code was sent to earth by aliens. So they struggled to crack the code for getting some information. But they finally found out that the codes were sent from the earth many years ago.As a result, their efforts were in vain. The translation part is the 8 SEGMENTATION and a part of 9 COMPOSITE STRUCTURE.The story revolves around Billy. He met people with different interests and discussed certain topics with them. There are diverse people with their own linguistic features in this part.In the process of translation, the translator gives full play her initiative and applies different translation strategies and methods to language with diverse features. The difficulties in translation include abnormal utterances, peculiar letter clusters and author-created words in the translation text. The translator adopts different translation strategies. The abnormal utterances are translated into abnormal Chinese words. While the peculiar letter clusters are preserved into their original English words. The former one is translated under the guidance of domestication but the latter one is translated based onforeignization.Lots of author-created words are translated according to their roots and context.
