Background:Since the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China(CPC),the work performance of grass-roots discipline inspection and supervision cadres has become the focus of attention.Job performance is the impact of all discontinuous behavior events that individuals engage in within the standard time interval on the expected outcomes of the organization. The mainstream view is that job performance can be divided into two dimensions, which are task performance and contextual performance.Subjective and objective factors can both influence job performances. As a stable behavioral disposition, personality can significantly predict job performance. Moreover, personality can affect individuals'psychological attitude and way of acts. The Big Five personalities is one of the most widely used personality models in academic circles.Psychological capital is a positive state of mind.Researchers have established that psychological capital has a significant impact on job performance. As self-monitoring reflects the ability of individuals to adjust their behaviors to adapt to the environment according to situational cues,it can be inferred that individuals with high self-monitoring level can better adjust their psychological capital to meet the needs of job performance. In this paper, the relationship model between the Big Five personalities and work performance, which includes task performance and contextual performance,is constructed. In addition, the role of psychological capital and self-monitoring between the Big Five personalities and job performance will be simultaneously explored. Methods:The researcher surveyed discipline inspection and supervision cadres in S County and nearby counties of Zhejiang Province. The participants need to complete the "Questionnaire for Basic Discipline Inspection and Supervision Cadres" in the form of self-reports.Eventually,214 effective questionnaires were obtained, including 131 from S County and 83 from nearby counties. In order to examine the validity of the self-reported job performances, peer assessment of job performances was included for the sample of S county for cross check.Self-reported and peer-assessed job performances were highly correlated.Result:(1)Conscientiousness can significantly and positively predict job performance and in both task performance and contextual performance dimensions.(2)Openness and agreeableness and can significantly and positively predict job performance via contextual performance dimension.(3)Extroversion can significantly and positively predict contextual performance dimension.(4)Psychological capital plays a full mediating effect between neuroticism and job performance,as well as between extraversion and job performance.Meanwhile,it plays a partial mediating effect between conscientiousness and job performance.(5)Self-monitoring plays a moderating role in the relationship between psychological capital and job performance.
