With the development of globalization, the economic and cultural exchanges among countries become increasingly frequent, leading to a growing demand of pragmatic translation. The translation of popular science texts,as a part of the pragmatic translation, has also attracted more and more attention. This report is based on the translation practice of an economy-related popular science text named Actions for a Sustainable and Competitive Open Innovation Ecosystem in the EU,which gives a detailed introduction and analysis of the innovative ecosystem in the EU and could be referenced by other countries in terms of economic development. The translation theory applied in the report is Skopos theory, which is proposed by Hans Vermeer, one of the representatives of German functionalists.Skopos theory stresses that translation is determined by translation purpose, and it attaches importance to the communicative functions of the target text.Under the guidance of Skopos theory, the analysis of the translation practice in this report is conducted from two aspects, namely, lexical level and syntactical level. At the lexical level, the author analyzes translation of terms and initialism, metaphoric words, abstract nouns and enterprise names. At the syntactic levels, the author discusses the translation of passive voice, long sentences, proverbs and negation. It is hoped that the report could provide certain reference and help for pragmatic translation, especially translation of popular science texts in the future.
