This report is based on the translation of the excerpts of Nationalism and Revolution in Mongolia written by Owen Lattimore,which is an academic text.With the rapid development of “The Belt and Road” strategy,academic text plays a vital role in spreading academic thoughts,promoting cultural communication and pushing cultural development.The source text is a research work by Owen Lattimore on the modern and contemporary development of Mongolia.It also analyzes the formation of nationalism and revolutionary movement in Mongolia as well as the diplomatic relations and international status of the People's Republic of Mongolia.This practice report mainly consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which briefly introduces the background of the source text and the significance of the research.The second chapter analyzes the features of the source text.The third chapter is the description of the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,while-translation and post-translation review.The fourth chapter is the body of the report,aiming at three problems encountered in the process of translation: the translation of nominalized structure,the translation of long English academic sentences and in the face of academic texts,how to give full consideration to the specific language and stylistic features as well as how to adopt the strategy of semantic translation and communicative translation.In the meantime,the translator puts forward relevant solutions.The last chapter is the translator's summary of the whole translation practice process.Through this translation practice,the translator's translation ability has been improved and the cognition of translation theories and methods has been deepened.It is expected that this report can offer some beneficial help to other translators.
