Thriving on a global scale, video games have become an integral part of the economy in many countries.Nowadays, people's increasing awareness of copyrights, more independent purchasing power, and increasingly developed network make it much easier to have access to the video games. Moreover, with the rapid development of the game encryption technology, many masterpieces are no longer easy to be cracked in a short time.More importantly, game manufactures begin to make the network a necessity to play the game. For example, the multi-player battle game does not allow players to compete privately through the LAN.If you simply choose to play the cracked version, you are destined to lose more than half of fun to play the game.As a result, the game localization, also known as the chinesization of the game, plays a vital role. This paper is written on the basis of the game manual Harpoon 3: Advanced Naval Warfare E-C translation practice. The source text Harpoon 3 is a turn-based strategy online game manual,in which vivid equipment settings and game description are involved.First of all, this paper analyzes the stylistic features and grammatical features of the game manual in details.Based on Newmark's text typology theory,it indicates that the source text belongs to informative text.At the same time, for informational texts,we should strive to be “faithful” and “accurate”.The key to the translation of such texts is to effectively convey the information in the text, thus indicating that communicative translation should be dominant with regard to communicative translation. This practice report elaborates all the translation steps, including pre-translation preparation, translation planning, translation process,post-translation review and reflections. In this report, the author discusses the characteristics of translated texts, categorizes them as informative texts under the guidance of translation theory, and gives detailed and sufficient examples from the perspective of words, sentences and texts.
