Idioms generally refer to conventional, commonly used, fixed phrases. It has strong solidification, stability and metaphor both in structure and in meaning,so it is more vivid and colourful when expressed in idiomatic words. In the 1980 's,conceptual metaphor theory presented by cognitive Linguistics provides a new perspective for us to study Chinese and Korean dietary idioms.Metaphor is ubiquitous in language.Conceptual metaphor theory holds that metaphor is not only a kind of rhetoric, but also an important cognitive mode and thinking pattern. This paper takes the conceptual metaphor theory as the main theoretical basis and examines the Chinese and Korean idioms related to diet from the perspective of cognitive linguistics and carries out cognitive analysis and interpretation. In order to prove that the metaphor of idiomatic meaning is to follow a certain law.In this process, the author mainly uses the method of combining description and interpretation and points out the extended semantics of Chinese and Korean dietary idioms and the reasons for their formation.Conceptual metaphor in Chinese and Korean dietary idioms the study of metaphor cognition of Chinese and Korean is an effective supplement, and the study of combining theory with corpus analysis can be used for reference. This article mainly with "diet" related to the Chinese and Korean idioms as the research object,in this paper, the Chinese and Korean dietary idioms, which are based on metaphor, are analysed in two kinds of situations(metaphor of the act and metaphor of food raw material),and the dietary idioms of both Chinese and Korean languages are discussed. The purpose of this study is to reveal the similarities and differences between the two languages in the usage of idioms, and to find out the role of similarity in the process of understanding the world and its embodiment in idiomatic language. The full text is divided into five parts, the specific content summarized as follows:The first chapter is the introduction, this paper expounds the reason and significance of the topic selection, the present research situation, the research content and the research method of this thesis, and makes a brief analysis of the antecedent study of Chinese and Korean idioms, and finally the introduction of the research object and the corpus source of the Han and Korean dietary idioms, and explains the research framework of thisThe second chapter mainly distinguishes and defines the diet-related idioms involved in this article. It introduces Lakoff and Johnson's conceptual metaphor theory and conceptual metonymy theory. In the third chapter, referring to and using Lakoff&Johnson's metaphor theory, the Han-Chinese idiom composed of "dietary" vocabulary is analyzed from three aspects:First, the Han-Chinese dietary idiom with the source of action as the source domain;Second, the Chinese and Korean dietary idioms based on dietary raw materials;and third,Chinese and Korean dietary idioms targeting the metaphorical targets. The fourth chapter makes a metaphorical classification of the collected corpus and explores the similarities and differences of metaphorical cognition mechanism between Han and Han diet related idioms. The Chinese-Korean idioms consisting of "dietary" vocabulary is analyzed from two aspects:First, the idioms of Han are "the same source domain".This section mainly includes"Idioms from the same domain and target domain","Idioms from same source with different targeting".The second is the Chinese-Korean idioms differing in sources. This section mainly includes "idioms with different source domains and the same target domain" and "different idioms with source and target domains".The fifth chapter is the conclusion of this paper, summarizes the discussion, and summarizes the similarities and differences between Chinese and Korean idioms in terms of semantics and syntax. Finally, the paper sums up the significance and deficiencies of the research and puts forward the prospect of the follow-up research.Through the analysis and comparison of the Chinese and Korean idioms related to the "diet",we find the similarities and differences between the peoples of China and Korea in perceiving and understanding the external world through eating and speaking. In addition,we can learn that the Chinese and Korean idiomatic semantics, which are related to dietary vocabulary, are not only influenced by society and culture, but also have close relationship with human cognitive mode of thinking.
