Adult learning and education are of great value and significance to the realization of adults' own value and the transformation of social development.Over the past 40 years of reform and development,with the tide of globalization,the demand for adult English has become incresingly higher,and adults themselves are becoming more and more interested in English.Therefore,it has become the consensus of many adults to improve their English proficiency.Adult higher education in China has thus developed rapidly.English for adult higher education can be said to be the product of the times and the witness of the rapid changes in China's political,economic and cultural education.However,under the background of the rapid development of adult English higher education,a series of teaching problems have been highlighted.The thesis focuses on the effectiveness of English classroom teaching in adult higher education.On the basis of sorting out the relevant materials about effective teaching at home and abroad,this thesis adopts the methods of literature analysis,questionnaire survey and interview,and through the analysis of data and interview records,describes the current situation of effective teaching in English classroom of adult higher education,and finds out the existing problems and influencing factors,and then puts forward a series of optimization measures to improve the problems.According to the survey results,the current situation of effective English classroom,teaching in adult higher education is not very optimistic.There are some limitations in teachers' teaching,students' learning and the use of textbooks.Therefore,the strategies mainly involve corresponding optimization suggestions from these three perspectives.The thesis is divided into six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the research background of this thesis,and then puts forward the research purpose and significance of this study.Chapter Two is an important definition of concepts and an overview of effective teaching research,which mainly combs the definition,characteristics,methods and strategies of effective teaching at home and abroad,as well as the related researches on effective teaching of English and effective teaching of adult higher education.The third chapter is the theoretical basis,which mainly elaborates the related theories of constructivism and social constructivism,focusing on teaching,learning,students and teachers.Chapter Four is the research design of this thesis,mainly including research questions,research objects and research methods.The fifth chapter is the part of discussion of investigation.Through the analysis of the data and data collected from the survey,it presents the results of the current situation of effective English classroom teaching in adult higher education,and summarizes the existing problems and influencing factors in the effective English classroom teaching in adult higher education.Chapter Six is the conclusion of the thesis.From the perspective of social constructivism,it puts forward strategies to optimize the effective English classroom teaching in adult higher education.At the same time,it also points out the limitations of this study and the possible future researches.
