English Soft News Translation Under The Guidance Of Eco-translatology

Nowadays,people have ever-wider access to public information and get information much easier from mobile phones and the Internet.Hundreds of millions of families have created huge needs for news at home and abroad.Contrary to hard news which often focuses on big events at home and abroad,soft news is full of fun and is told in a plain way.It usually lacks of time urgency and covers a wide range of topics about fashion,sports,and other aspects with a large number of readers.Therefore,it's full of necessity and urgency to choose translation methods accordingly and make choices based on the reading preferences of target language readers and the level of their knowledge.Among many theories on translation,eco-translatology,proposed by a Chinese scholar Hu Gengshen,mentions a proper method of editing for news.Besides,it introduced "survival of the fittest",which clarifies the idea of adaptation/selection in news translation.It consists of three perspectives,macro systematical research from which I have learned that an acceptable translation should be interdisciplinary,meso theoretical research from which I have learned some principles of translation and the micro practical translation from which I have learned the application of this theory in details.Based on the above discussion,this paper will analyze the detailed question I met in my translation and seek relevant solutions under the guidance of eco-translatology.From the linguistic,cultural and communicative aspects,I will try to discuss how to translate English soft news with a higher degree of holistic adaptation and selection.
