The concepts and categories of Chinese and Western philosophy form their own systems.Of course,philosophical texts are not easy to translate.As a result,outstanding philosophical texts from Europe and America have not been popularized in China.Therefore,it is quite necessary to explore how to translate philosophical texts from English into Chinese.Obviously,this report based on the translation of a philosophical text possesses important application value.First,this report introduces the background of this project,overviews relevant literature,points out the significance of the research,briefly states the main methods,and presents the composition of the thesis.Next,it describes the main linguistic features of the source text,illustrating the features of diction,sentences and the text.Moreover,it stresses the demands for translation of the philosophical text,provides an account of the translation process,i.e.the pre-translation procedure,comprehension and reproduction of the source text,and the phase of revising the version.Then,the report dwells on how the translator exerts her subjectivity,expounds and proves the feasibility of literal and liberal translation,as well as the compensation strategies,such as cultural compensation strategy and pragmatic compensation strategy,which are used in the process of translation of the philosophical text,hence successful translation of the main and difficult points.Finally,the report summarizes the author's findings and enlightenments,sums up her perceptions and understandings,and discusses how the translator exerts her subjectivity in the big data environment.At the same time,it draws readers' attention to the defects or deficiencies of the research and refers to future improvements.This research report is intended to enlighten translators of philosophical texts and to provide useful reference for translators who researches into translated texts in the field of Chinese and Western philosophy.
