Translation Strategies Of Culture-loaded Words In The Legend Of Zhen Huan From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

Culture-loaded words are words,phrases and idioms that are unique to a culture,carrying cultural customs and language habits formed by a particular nation during its long historical evolution.They are unique symbols of a nation.Because of the different cultural backgrounds between China and foreign countries.Chinese culture-loaded words have become a major obstacle in Chinese-English translation.Meanwhile,the translation of culture-loaded words in drama series subtitles is different from that in literature since it is subject to time and spatial constraints.From the perspective of Skopos theory,this paper studies the subtitle translation strategies of Chinese culture-loaded words in The Legend of Zhen Huan(Zhen Huan Zhuan),This paper analyzes the translation methods of culture-loaded words in drama's subtitles and summarizes the translation strategies used including correspondence,literal translation,interpretation,reduction and transliteration.From the perspective of untranslatability,this paper also analyzes the shortcomings of the culture-loaded words translation in the subtitles of The Legend of Zhen Huan,hoping that it can be used as reference in the translation of Chinese films and TV series.
