| As one of the two host venues for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games,Zhangjiakou will step onto the world stage.The book Zhangjiakou Tourist Guide,including all the cultural and natural landscape of Zhangjiakou,is rich and diverse.And it will be an important reference for Chinese and foreign tourists.During the process of translation,the translation of cultureloaded words has become a great challenge for the translator.This thesis is a report on a Chinese-English translation of Grape Industry Tasting Tour,Historical Site Exploration Tour and Local Culture in Zhangjiakou Tourist Guide.The translator analyzes the translation methods of Chinese culture-loaded words with Skopos theory as its guiding rule in expectation of helping overseas tourists have a better understanding of Zhangjiakou,thus booming the tourism in Zhangjiakou.The report consists of four parts.Chapter 1 introduces the translation project.Chapter 2focuses on the process of translation.Chapter 3 illustrates translation cases.Chapter 4 is the conclusion of the thesis.As the main body of this report,Chapter 3 introduces the strategies for the translation of culture-loaded Words in Zhangjiakou Tourist Guide.According to Skopos Theory,the translator should adopt appropriate strategies under the guidance of Skopos Rule,Coherence Rule and Fidelity Rule.It can be summarized as follows: under the guidance of skopos rule,amplification and omission are employed in the translation to meet the reading habits of the target readers.Under the guidance of coherence rule,free translation and annotation are employed.Under the guidance of fidelity rule,transliteration and literal translation are employed to preserve the cultural connotation of the original text and show Chinese culture to western tourists.It is hoped that this translation can make contributions to the cultural exchanges between China and the foreign countries,and further expand the opening-up to the outside world. |
