In 2014,the Ministry of Education issued the document on comprehensively deepening the curriculum reform and implementing the fundamental task of cultivating students' virtue and cultivating their talents.In 2016,the Ministry required the students' all-round development.The emergence of Drama in Education just satisfied its requirement of students' all-round development,and their need for comprehensive development.Drama in Education is a kind of teaching method,which is to take the dramatic activities,such as role-playing,drama games and imitations as the main means of teaching.It takes not only the consolidation of cognition,but also the expanding of thinking as the teaching goal.Conducting students-centered and process-oriented classes are two guiding principles of implementation,so as to help educate children as a whole.This paper sums up the previous research done by various scholars on Drama in Education including concept,values,strategies,and theoretical basis.Besides,a large number of teaching cases are used and analyzed in this study to highlight some readily strategies for low-grade classroom application on Drama in Education in primary schools.The study finds that Drama in Education can be an invaluable teaching method,since it supports students' every aspect of literacy development,including their subject accomplishments and comprehensive accomplishments.The thesis consists of six chapters:Chapter 1 introduces the background of the thesis,the significance of the research,and the layout of the thesis.Chapter 2 reviews the related literature,including the definition of Drama in Education,the history and present research of Drama in Education home and aboard.It also presents the theoretical basis.Chapter 3 summarizes the teaching strategies by applying Drama in Education on low-grade students in primary schools and teaching cases are also used and analyzed in this study.Chapter 4 presents the design and methods of the research,including research hypotheses,subjects and methods.Chapter 5 analyses the data and presents the result of the research.Chapter 6 sums up the results of the study and puts forward some suggestions and discusses the limitation of the research.
