As we all know,English is a practical subject. It needs a deal of practice to master the language points and get the abilities of using the language. Therefore,it is hard to improve these abilities. In the traditional English classes, language teaching is simple and dull.Generally speaking, the teachers employ some similar activities and pay little attention to individual students. Each teacher is required to have the brand new view of teaching, human beings and knowledge.Basically,we have some common problems to face and solve,we have to teach all the students fairly, and at the same time,we have to develop all the students' abilities and help them to lay a foundation and overcome the disadvantages, and we also need to cultivate students' potential individually. And we definitely have to show a vivid and sufficient English class. The problems above are quite deadly to be solved.Accordingly,we teachers should help the students to be better. My research is the application study of dramatic conventions to English teaching in primary schools. It is the key point that we need to use this kind of teaching strategies and find an appropriate way to use it.To cultivate and promote the students' study abilities,we focus on the two questions: 1)What are the effects on the students' study interest of applicating the dramatic conventions to English teaching in primaryschools? 2)What are the effects on the students' study skills of application of the dramatic conventions to English teaching in primary schools? This study selects two parallel classes, with 70 students in all, from Grade One in a primary school in C City,Hunan Province. Before the experiment, the pre-tests of the English study interest verify that there is no significant difference between the two classes. In the Factor Analysis of the pre-test questionnaires data, there are three language skills being analyzed: listening, speaking and reading.Because of the starter level,we haven't involved the writing skills. These two classes are randomly appointed as the experiment class and the control class. The dramatic conventions are used in the experiment class and the traditional teaching methods are used in the control class. The teaching experiment lasts 4 months. After the experiment, the post-tests of the study interest and language skills test are conducted and the results are collected and analyzed in SPSS24.0.The statistical analysis of the data was carried out by independent sample T test, correlation analysis and paired sample T test.In this paper,we apply questionnaires, interviews and classroom observation tables. And we interview and test the students in two classes of Grade One in B Primary School and the teachers in Li Xiaolei Top Teachers Workshop for Primary School English.Besides,we interview the instructors in C city. When we do the study, the teachers in Li Xiaolei Top Teachers workshop use the classroom observation tables to assess theeffects of using the dramatic conventions.Through out this study,it shows that we have the possibility and value of the application of dramatic conventions to English study in primary schools.During the process,we meet some difficulties, how we put the theories into practice, how we use the conventions correctly and appropriately and the class rules, etc. As is shown in the results, the application of dramatic conventions to English teaching in primary schools can increase the students' learning interest and improve the language skills obviously.Teachers in C City will be more confident in applying this kind of new teaching strategies. And we have some teaching plans which may be practical. All in all,the number of the questionnaires is a small sample, and there are no students from other schools and no teachers from other cities. So,we have certain limitations in this paper. Moreover, due to the limitations of my research level, there are still many deficiencies in the depth and breadth of the research. We have only used several common dramatic conventions. For those objective reasons,it is inevitable that this study needs to be further developed and improved in the future teaching practice.
