Translation Of Scientific Papers From The Per Spective Of Text Typology Theory

In recent years,the development of science and technology has been advancing by leaps and bounds.China's scientific and technological exchanges with other countries have become increasingly close.The demand for Chinese-English translation of scientific literature has been increasing.This thesis takes the translation of the academic paper Elasticity of factor substitution and driving factors of energy intensity in China's industry as an example,and uses the translation strategies of informative texts in Reiss's text typology theory to guide the translation.The text typology theory divides texts according to their functions,and the type of a text determines the translation strategies.Considering that the material is a scientific paper,which features the informative function,it belongs to the informative type.The translation of informative texts should always be based on the original texts,and the language form of the translation should be oriented to the target language.Based on the translation methods of informative texts,this thesis explains the translation of scientific papers from their four characteristics,namely accuracy,objectivity,simplicity and logic.The following methods are proposed in the thesis:the methods of annotation and equivalent translation are used to ensure the accuracy of the information;the passive voice and the nominalization are used to make the translation information more objective;the abbreviation and ellipsis are used to make the translation more concise;and the logical manifestation method is used to clarify the logic of information.It can be seen from this thesis that the text typology theory is of practical guiding value for the translation of informative texts such as scientific papers.I hope that this exploration can provide certain reference for the translation of scientific papers.
