An E-C Translation Practice Report On Academic Papers From The Perspective Of Text Typology Theory

Geographical indication is an important intellectual property right that has been widely concerned by the international community.It has become an important means for a country to protect its national industry and seize the international market in international trade.The book Geographical Indications at the Crossroads of Trade Development and Culture: Focus on the Asia-Pacific Region is a collection of conference proceedings that discusses changes in the protection model of geographical indications in the Asia-Pacific region and the world.The third paper in the book is selected as the translation material to introduce the help and influence of geographical indications to rural areas in developing countries.Guided by Reiss’ s Text Typology,the report clarifies the text type of academic papers and corresponding translation strategies.By selecting typical cases in the translation materials,the guiding role of the text type theory on the translation methods of academic papers is explored from the vocabulary,sentence and text levels.In the process of translating vocabulary,annotation,context reference and semantic extension are used to ensure the accurate transmission of the original information;when dealing with sentences,the methods of voice conversion,splitting,amplification and sentence structure adjustment are adopted to make the target text express smoothly and conform to the reading habits of the target readers;at the textual level,the translation skills of paragraph centralization and division of sense-groups are employed,so that the translation has the logic of informative text.Practice shows that the Text Typology has a guiding role for translators to analyze the texts of academic papers,determine translation standards and strategies,and improve the quality of translation.It provides a useful reference for the translation practice of academic papers and contributes to the wide spread and application of international advanced academic achievements.Figure 0;Table 0;Reference 35...
