Guided by China's policies of “The Belt and Road Initiative” and “deepening reforms and opening further to the outside world”,cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and foreign countries have been strengthened. Therefore, the international communication platform is playing an increasingly important role.In recent years,TED conference,as a global platform for spreading ideas, has attracted more and more attention from language researchers. However,as an important category of TED talks, educational speeches have relatively been neglected. The interpretive theory is comparatively mature for the study of interpretation, which has been widely discussed by scholars all over the world. In the studies of interpretation of educational speeches, this theory is less involved. This practice report presents and discusses the interpretation problems of ambiguous meaning, logical processing and English-Chinese humor language in the process of consecutive interpreting of the three TED speeches by the famous British educator Ken Robinson:Do schools kill creativity?,How to escape education's death valley? and Bring on the learning revolution. To solve these problems,it is worth noting the significance of the triangular model of the interpretive theory, which includes listening and understanding of the source language, breaking away from the shell of language(deverbalization)and re-expressing,emphasizing the interpreter's ability of breaking the shell of language for outputting the target language more naturally according to the culture and language habits of the audience.Analysis from the perspective of the interpretive theory shows that there have been effective methods of interpreting educational speeches, such as omission, amplification, conversion, linear interpretation, adjustment, reorganization, separation from linguistic shell and discourse interpretation. It indicates that the interpretive theory can effectively be applied to the interpreting practice of educational speeches from English to Chinese.
