On October 17th,2020,The IARC held an opening ceremony for Executive Course on Humanitarian Affairs(ECH)and Advanced Seminar for Sociology Majors(Humanitarian Work)in the lecture hall of Soochow University. On the basis of the recording of the speeches of six speakers during the ceremony, the interpreter finishes the simulated consecutive interpreting practice.Under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory, the interpreter analyzes the interpreted texts. The Interpretive Theory is one of the most commonly used theoretical achievements in the study of interpreting activities. This report analyzes and summarizes the difficulties encountered by the interpreter in the process of interpretation, and under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory, finds the corresponding strategies, methods or skills to solve the corresponding difficulties.Through elaborate preparations, the interpreter rises to the interpreting task with confidence. In view of the topic of the conference that has been informed and the political identity of the speakers, the interpreter searches for information, refers to the relevant parallel texts, generates a list of relevant terms, and has a certain understanding of the speech style of the speakers. In addition, the interpreter is well prepared mentally and technically, which reduces the psychological pressure to a certain extent. In the process of interpreting, the difficulties encountered by the interpreter include the interpreting of ancient Chinese Aphorisms, the interpreting of political expressions, the problem of constituent order in sentences, and the treatment of metaphors and similes.Under the guidance of the Interpretive theory,to deal with the four major difficulties, the interpreter proposes four corresponding countermeasures, namely, paraphrasing, literal interpreting, inversion, and integrated approaches to metaphors and similes. The interpreter lists the unresolved problems in the conclusion section of the report and proposes some reflections.
