Task-based Language Teaching(TBLT)is a type of language teaching method which stresses “learning by doing”.In this teaching method,students learn a language by finishing various activities or tasks designed by teachers.Therefore,the teaching design becomes a crucial part of TBLT.In view of the neglect of oral English teaching in senior high school,this thesis aims at enhancing the application effect of TBLT through oral English teaching design.This paper mainly attempts to answer the following research questions:(1)What is the current situation of senior high school students' oral English learning? What are the major problems?(2)Based on the three-stage teaching model of Willis,how is the task-based oral teaching design creatively made?(3)Does the task-based teaching design have a positive correlation with students' oral proficiency? How much do the students accept it? First of all,by analyzing questionnaires,the author discovers some existing problems in oral English teaching in senior high school.Secondly,based on Willis' model,the author creatively designs the teaching model of pre-task,while-task and post-task.And various task-based activities are carried out in a semester of teaching practice under the principles of authenticity,material-orientedness,cooperative learning,and staged tasks.Finally,the difference between the experimental class with TBLT and the control class with the traditional teaching model-3P teaching method(Presentation-Practice-Production)is tested by pre-test and post-test.Meanwhile,the author also learns about the students' opinions and suggestions on TBLT in the experimental class through interview,so as to achieve the combination of qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis.The results of the study show that the average score of the experimental class under TBLT is higher than that of the control class after one semester's teaching,between which there is a significant difference.In addition,TBLT can make the teaching atmosphere more lovely and interesting,and students are more involved and confident in oral English learning.Finally,the majority of the students can accept the new teaching method,which provides an important reference for the implementation of TBLT in oral English teaching.
