The translation is about an epidemiology study protocol on the new drug Bedaquiline(BDQ, SIRTURO ?). Provided by Janssen Research & Development Center, the protocol follows the general requirements for the drug clinical practice in drug research and development, including overview of the study design, study population, statistical methods, study limitations, ethical aspects and the administrative requirements. The thesis consists of four parts, namely, the source text, the translated text, translation report and reference. In the translation report, firstly, the author introduces the origin, the content and translation requirements of the text as well as the translation process; then appropriate ways are introduced for the specific problems encountered in the practice, such as technical terms, jargon, passive sentences and complex sentences. The last part summarizes the experience through this translation practice. The translation is guided by skopos theory. According to the three basic principles:skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule, the translation should be purpose-oriented. With the clear purpose, the translator should adopt appropriate translation methods to make the translation faithfully and fluently.Through this translation practice, the translator learns that a good translation must be based on appropriate theories and rich professional background knowledge; meanwhile, the translator must have a solid bilingual foundation and excellent professional ethics. Only in this way can he do the translation well.
