A Report On C-E Translation Of CNPC Annual Report(2016) From The Perspective Of Newmark's Text Typology Theory

With the rapid development of economic globalization,international trade cooperation has become more frequent.Listed companies play an important role in promoting the development of the global economy.An annual report reflects the operation and financial performance of a company and is a major channel to show its image and investment.Therefore,the accurate translation of the annual report becomes crucial.However,some translation problems still exist due to the particularity of the texts on annual report.This translation report is selected from CNPC Annual Report(CNPC AR)(2016),including Industry Review,Technology and Innovation,International Trade and Financial Statements,which are of great value to the investment of shareholders and potential investors.On the basis of relevant materials,this thesis tries to apply the Newmark's Text Typology theory to the translation practice of the annual report,so as to accurately convey the original information.This report combines the linguistic features of source text at lexical,syntactic and discourse levels,then analyzes the problems encountered in the translation of CNPC AR(2016)through exemplification.In this way,the strategies and techniques of annual report translation are summarized to make the translation more standardized,so as to further expand the feasibility of Text Typology in such texts,and provide a reference for the study of annual report translation.
