Analysis On The Translation Of Shaanxi History Museum Website From The Perspective Of Nord's Functionalist Approach

With the popularization of the Internet,networks as a new medium is developing rapidly.Shaanxi History Museum,with the help of Internet technology to realize the combination of the real and virtual world,has spared no efforts to bring a unique experience to foreign visitors on its English webpage.Through years of continual development,the English webpage of Shaanxi History Museum has been greatly improved and is browsed by over 10,000 visitors every day.However,some linguistic translation errors,pragmatic translation errors,cultural translation errors and text-specific translation errors can still be found at the present Shaanxi History Museum English webpages.This thesis starts with the origin and research status of the Functional Translation Theories.And then,based on Nord's translation-oriented text analysis model,the thesis classifies the translation errors in the Chinese-English translation(C-E translation)of Shaanxi History Museum English webpages through analyzing the source text(ST),extratextual and intratextual factors.At last,in response to these translation errors,this thesis concludes by proposing translation approaches at different levels-lexical level,syntactic level,and discourse level through specific case analysis,in hoping of better achieving the appellative function and referential function.
