The translation material of this report was selected from Chapter 3 of The 4th Industrial Revolution Responding to the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Business written by Mark Skilton and Felix Hovsepian.The selected material summarizes the concepts of AI and cognition,presents the development of AI and explores the basic concepts of learning and reasoning of AI in the field of cognitive psychology.This translation practice report consists of four parts.The first part is a description of the translation task,which introduces the source of the translation material,the authors? background,the content of the work and the significance of choosing to translate the material of AI.The second part is the description of the translation process.By analyzing the original text and combining Reiss? Text Type Theory,the author determines the selected material as informative text whose language style is objective.With many terminologies of computer science and complicated sentences,the author makes the glossary and selects the corresponding translation strategies.The third part is the translation case analysis.The author selects examples from three levels of vocabulary,syntax and discourse,which involves the translation of terminology,complicated sentences and difficulties in discourse.The author adopts translation techniques such as word formation,adding category words,sentence order adjustment and supplementary components.The fourth part is a summary,including the author's feeling of translating the interdisciplinary material,shortcomings in this translation practice and the direction of improvement.After this translation practice,the author not only deepened the understanding of AI,but also improved the translation ability and accumulated valuable experience for future translation work.
