With the accelerating pace of economic globalization,China's trade with countries around the world has become increasingly extensive.Meanwhile, the importance of legal translation becomes more and more prominent. As a bridge in legal communication, legal translation plays an indispensable role in legal activities under the dual framework of law and translation. The mission of legal translation is multifaceted in multilevel.First of all, legal translation should ensure the smoothness of target language, which is also the critical and basic requirement of ordinary translation.Besides, legal translation should represent the legal system and its spirit. At present,China has huge investment in mineral resources in Western Australia. The mastery of local laws, regulations and trade policies is crucial to the development of China's foreign trade. However,China's research on the Australian mineral law is only a brief introduction to its legal system, and there is no detailed translation to support it.Therefore, our team chose the Mining Act 1978 of Western Australia as the source text, aiming to provide a complete translated version and share legal knowledge of Australia with scholars in this field. The author undertook the translation of the Retention licence and Mining lease in Part IV of this act.Through this translation practice, the author had a deep understanding of Skopos theory put forward by Vermeer and summarized this translation experience at the lexical and syntax level using the Skopos rule,Coherence rule and Fidelity rule of Skopos theory, hoping to give some reference to other legal studies and give some legal support to China's investment of mining activities in Western Australia.
