As the cultural exchanges of all the countries are intensified,English novels have flooded into the Chinese market.The translation of novels has practical significance for promoting cultural exchanges.The thesis is a translation project report based on a novel translation.The original text is Excavating a Husband by Ella Bell Wallis.It is a story about that Katherine sought a husband during her treasure hunting.The original work is published by Baltimore,Md.,The McLean company.It is full of fun and romance.This report is basically guided by Skopos Theory and analyzes specific cases based on the theory.In the process of translation,in order to achieve the purpose of communication of the original text and take coherence and fidelity into account,the writer mainly uses translation strategies such as free translation,contextual amplification,omission and conversion to deal with the translation of words and phrases.At the level of sentence translation,the writer uses strategies as free translation,merging and division.In addition,in order to let the target readers understand the original author's intentions and appreciate different cultures,the writer analyzes the cultural information in detail.According to the translation to Exca.vating a Husband,the writer realized that being a qualified translator is not an easy task.Translators need to broaden their horizons and learn bilingual culture.At the same time,they should be patient,careful and pay attention to the translation of each detail.Translators should use different translation strategies according to the specific content to improve the consistency and loyalty to the original text and show the intention of original text clearly.
