The reproduction of style is the major and most difficult task in literary translation.Traditional views take "style" as the ambiguous quality of literary work based on subjective impression. But according to the perspectives of modern stylistics, the analysis of style can be justified by the analysis of linguistic forms, thus providing us a more scientific way to discover style and making the translation of style possible. The source text in this translation report is the novel The Idiot, written by the Turkish-American writer,Elif Batuman. The book tells about a Harvard freshman's experience,as to how she meets her first love, struggles about her dreams and thinks about life at intervals of all the college courses including linguistic, literary and art seminars. The book is shortlisted for the 2018 Pulitzer prize and of high literary value. The language is vivid, full of intellectual wisdom and dry humor. This report is based on the stylistic markers theory of Liu Miqing. The translator tried to recognize the style of The Idiot through analysis of its lexical markers, register markers, syntactic markers, and markers of figures of speech, and flexibly adopted strategies of corresponding, recasting and decoloring to transfer these stylistic markers.By doing this, the translator hoped to reproduce the style of the ST to the utmost degree and keep its aesthetic value.Meanwhile, the translator also hoped to throw some lights on the translation of literary work with similar style through analysis.
