A Project Report On E-C Translation Of Ontario's Technical Standards And Safety Act

This report is an E-C translation project report.The source text covers Chapter 16 of Ontario's Technical Standards and Safety Act,3 of 17 regulations under this Act,and TSSA FIELD APPROVAL CODE,TSSA-FA-2005.The major target readers of the project,entrusted by Beijing XX Thermprocess Equipment Co.,Ltd,are administrators,professionals and technicians of the company.As a novel technical act without existing translation,the translation project embodies characters of both legal and technical texts.Therefore,it was an invaluable practice for the translator.Though numerous researches on legal and technical texts have been conducted,a few have been done on specific technical standards or technical acts.With the further technical cooperation between China and Canada's Ontario province,domestic industries'understanding on technical acts of Ontario is of great significance.This translation project report is written based on the translation of Chapter 16 of Ontario's Technical Standards and Safety Act and TSSA FIELD APPROVAL CODE,TSSA-FA-2005 under the guidance of Skopos theory.In light of the demands of the entrusting party,features of legal and technical texts,and the translating material,the translation of some unusual legal words and technical terms,titles of regulations and acts and special sentence patterns are explored.The translator intends to render some reference and help to those who will embark on translating similar texts.
