Objective:1.To understand the relationship between initiative personality and career adaptability of Medical College students,and explore the multiple mediating roles of achievement motivation and career decision-making self-efficacy.To provide suggestions for career guidance education in medical colleges and universities to improve college students' career adaptability.2.To explore the influencing factors of Medical College Students' career adaptability through qualitative research.Methods:1.Research studyA total of 1055 undergraduates from a medical college in Shanxi Province were surveyed with self-compiled General Situation Questionnaire,Active Personality Scale,Achievement Motivation Scale,Career Decision-making Self-efficacy Scale and College Students' Career Adaptation Scale.The characteristics and status quo of career adaptability,initiative personality,achievement motivation and career decision-making self-efficacy were explored by independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA;using structural equation model to analyze the relationship between active personality and career adaptability.2.Qualitative researchFourteen medical college students were selected to conduct in-depth interviews.After the interviews,the original materials were transformed into text manuscripts,and the text manuscripts were coded from bottom to top with the method of grounded theory.Based on the feelings of the research subjects,the influencing factors of career adaptability ofmedical college students are deeply understood.Results:1.Research study results(1)The total score of career adaptability was 126.67±13.98.The scores of career adaptability and related dimensions were significantly different in grade,specialty,family location,student cadres and work experience(P<0.05).(2)The total score of active personality was 53.59±9.66.The scores of initiative personality and related dimensions were significantly different in gender,grade,family location,only child,student cadre and work experience(P<0.05).(3)The score of motivation to pursue success was 36.38±7.31,and the score of motivation to avoid failure was 34.63±8.18;the score of motivation to pursue success and motivation to avoid failure was significantly different in gender and only child(P<0.01);the score of achievement motivation and motivation to pursue success was different in grade and student cadres(P<0.05);There were significant differences in motivation,motivation to pursue success and motivation to avoid failure(P<0.05).(4)The total score of career decision-making self-efficacy was 65.09±12.16.The scores of career decision-making self-efficacy and related dimensions were significantly different in gender,grade,family location,only child or not,student cadres or work experience(P<0.05).(5)There were significant correlations between initiative personality,achievement motivation,career decision-making self-efficacy and career adaptability(r=-0.71~0.68,P <0.01).Active personality can directly predict career adaptability(95%CI=0.57~0.75,P <0.001).Motivation to avoid failure(95%CI=0.001~0.017,P<0.05)and career decision-making self-efficacy(95%CI=0.108~0.217,P<0.001)played intermediary roles between active personality and career adaptability,respectively.Motivation to pursue success and career decision-making self-efficacy played a chain mediating role between active personality and career adaptability(95%CI =0.016~0.061,P<0.001);motivation to avoid failure and career decision-making self-efficacy played a chain mediating role between active personality and career adaptability(95%CI=0.002~0.013,P<0.01).Themediating effect of career decision-making self-efficacy is the greatest,followed by the chain mediating effect of pursuing success motivation and career decision-making self-efficacy.The chain mediating effect of avoiding failure motivation and avoiding failure motivation is the same and the smallest as the chain mediating effect of career decision-making self-efficacy.2.Qualitative research resultsActive personality,self-concept,emotion,career decision-making self-efficacy,achievement motivation,coping style and career values are the factors that affect the career adaptability of Medical College students.Conclusions:1.The scores of career adaptability and related dimensions of medical college students differ in grade,specialty,family location,student cadres and work experience.2.The scores of initiative personality and related dimensions of medical students differ in gender,grade,family location,student cadres and work experience.3.Medical college students' motivation to pursue success is higher than that to avoid failure,and both of them are in the middle level.4.Medical college students' career decision-making self-efficacy and related dimension scores differ in gender,grade,major,family location,only child or not,student cadres and work experience.5.Medical college students' initiative personality,achievement motivation,career decision-making self-efficacy and career adaptability are correlated.Achievement motivation and career decision-making self-efficacy have multiple mediating effects between initiative personality and career adaptability.6.Active personality,self-concept,emotion,career decision-making self-efficacy,achievement motivation,coping style and career values are the influencing factors of career adaptability of Medical College students.
