Reproduction Of Implicit Logic Of Chinese Paratactic Sentences In Chinese-English Translation Of International Relations Literature

This report is based on the third to fifth sections from the third chapter of The History of Relations between China-Latin American and Caribbean Countries,which was the Chinese academic translation project by my supervisor and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.The third chapter of the book focuses on the breakthrough and development of China-Latin America relations from 1959 to 1969.The third to fifth sections describe the ups and downs of China-Latin America relations in the mid-to-late 1960 s,aiming to promote the relationship between China and Latin America.The relevant academic research can also be developed.In the process of translation,the main problem is how to translate the paratactic sentences,especially the reproduction of the implicit logic in these sentences.Chinese sentence is often connected by a few clauses,without any associated words or grammatical marks.English syntactic structure is clear,and the logical relationship can be reflected by words or sentences.According to the current research,which chose the subject as the symbol,the paratactic sentences are classified into two categories: single subject and multi-subject paratactic sentences.The main translation strategies are using subordinate clauses,simplifying the repeated structure,adding the omitted information and using the explicit logic words.The translator summarizes and analyzes the problems encountered in the translation process.The translator sincerely hopes that this report can provide some references for other translators who translate the similar international documents.
