In this report, the contents of Facing Up to Global Warming written by Professor Gray of Dublin University are selected as the translation text.Based on the comparison between Chinese and English, this report introduces the differences between the two languages in expressing logical relations.Through analyzing the logical relations in scientific texts,it discusses the strategies of explicitating implicit logic in scientific translation. The problem brought by global warming is becoming more and more serious.Selecting this book as a translation text will help arouse more people to pay attention to this global problem that cannot be ignored. The words in Facing Up to Global Warming are easy to understand and logical. The original text of this practice report is excerpted from the first and second chapters in which global issues and sustainability are introduced respectively and many logical relations are implied semantically. This report takes the translation of the two chapters of Facing Up to Global Warming as an example to study the translation strategies of implicit logic in scientific text, hoping to provide some reference for the processing of logical relations in scientific translation. The report consists of five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction to the translation task and the source text, and the second one describes the procedure of the translation practice. The third chapter analyzes the features of scientific translation, the logic in scientific texts and the necessity of explicitating implicit logic. The fourth chapter puts forward specific translation strategies for the three implicit causal, conditional and adversative relations and some examples for these strategies in translation practice are given.Among these translation strategies, the translation strategies involved in the implicit causal relation are amplification and conversion;those involved in implicit conditional relation are cutting and repetition;those involved in the implicit adversative relation are inversion, recasting and amplification. The last chapter points out the findings and limitations in the translation practice report.
