The Problems And Countermeasures Of Words In English-Chinese Translation Of Business Purchase Contracts

In recent years,with the further deepening of the reform and opening up,international exchanges in the economic field have become more frequent and closer.All international economic activities such as trade,finance and investment cannot be separated from contracts.The demand for translation of contractual texts has seen steady growth,making it one of the most common translation types in professional practice translation.Since the translation of the contract documents is directly related to the economic interests of both parties involved in the contract,accurately interpreting the clauses of the contract and thoroughly understanding the implied meanings behind the clauses have become the basic ability which contract translators needed: accuracy,rigidity and proficiency,making the translation professional and legal.In the process of English contract translation,it is undoubtedly the decisive factor of whether or not we can grasp the words correctly.Based on the actual cases,the author chooses the translation of English contract as research object.By taking the translation of one company's Contract for Equipment Purchase as an example,this report concludes the difficulties and analysis the wording mistakes inEnglish-Chinese contract translation.This report consists of four parts.Firstly,a brief discussion of the background,goal and meaning of this translation project;secondly,analysis of the content and vocabulary characteristics;thirdly,introduction of the difficulties and the whole process of the this translation,and analysis of the wording mistakes according to some examples in the contract translation;fourthly,conclusion of the translation experience and some demanding problems are proposed.It is hoped that this report,with practical significance,can further uplift the translation skill of the author of this report and enlighten the translators who are engaged in English-Chinese contract translation.
