The Research Report Of Company Purchase Contract Translation

This practice report is about translation of an English purchase contract signed between Rongsheng Machinery Manufacture Ltd. of Huabei Oilfield, Hebei with a foreign company. This contract selected by the author has typical characteristics of English contract. This report includes five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction of the translation project, including the project background, content outline and the significance of the translation project. The second chapter is the analysis of the purchase contract translation, in which the author analyzes the text-type of this contract, the English contract features and discusses the translation strategy from the perspective of the Skopos Theory. The third chapter is the translation process, in which the author described it from the pre-translation preparation, the middle stage of the translation and the feedback after the translation. The fourth chapter is the case study, in which the author focuses on some difficulties of translating words and the long sentence translation methods in this contract, using the Nord’s ’Instrumental Translation’for guidance in the course of the case study. The fifth chapter is the conclusion, in which the author summarizes the experiences and deficiencies during the translation practice. The author believes that these conclusions have great reference value for the research and practice of contract translation, which can be useful and helpful for people who carry out the contract translation.
