The translation practice chooses Chapter Six and Seven of the book Found in Translation: How Language Shapes Our Lives and Transforms the World as the source text. The book was written by Nataly Kelly and Jost Zetzsche.Chapter Six mainly talks about the functions of translation in entertainment industry and sporting world.Chapter Seven discusses how profoundly translation has influenced our lives in the information society. This book uses many cases to prove that translation is multifunctional, which can contribute to the improvement of the status of translation and the visibility of translators. The translation practice is based on the guidance of Eugene A.Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory. In the report, the translator analyzes the problems that he encountered in the translation process from lexical level, syntactic level and textual level and discusses relevant translation strategies and techniques. The translation report is divided into four chapters.Chapter One is a brief introduction to the translation task.Chapter Two is the description of the translation process.Chapter Three presents some case studies with the guidance of relevant theory.Chapter Four is the conclusion of the translation report, including findings and limitations of the translation report.Through the translation practice, the translator has a profound understanding of the guiding role of Functional Equivalence Theory in translation practice. He has further mastered the strategies and techniques of English-Chinese translation and realized the cultural factors behind translation. The limitations revealed therein also provide a reference for the translator's future relevant studies.
