Research On Baoding Almshouse And Local Society In The Period Of The Republic Of China(1928-1937)

Soon after the establishment of the Nanjing National Government,the country completed formal unification.The Kuomintang began to enter the period of political tutelage from the period of constitutional government,and gradually took various national undertakings into construction.And also focus on the construction of philanthropy.Due to the warlord warfare during the Beijing government and the impact of natural disasters,some people become destitute and homeless,and they need to be rescued by the government and society.At the preliminary stage of the establishment of the Nanjing National Government,it began to set up almshouses throughout the country.In May 1928,the Nanjing National Government officially promulgated the "Regulations of Local Relief Authorities",requiring local governments to establish local almshouses based on their local conditions.Under this background,the local government of Hebei Province integrated the original charity institutions such as the nursery hall and the Quanjie hall in Baoding and set up the Baoding Almshouse.After the establishment of Baoding Almshouse Institution,it carried out various social assistance issues actively,and not only assisted the vulnerable groups such as babies,women,and debilitated sick people in the almshouse,but also paid more attention to the survival skills,physical and mental health and other aspects of them.A series of social assistance activities carried out by B aoding Almshouse Institution played an important role in promoting the development of local philanthropy.In addition to social assistance activities,Baoding almshouse Institution actively participates in the construction of other businesses in local communities,such as local education and local medical and health services.The activities of Baoding Almshouse Institution are of great significance in promoting the changes of local society.In short,the activities carried out by Baoding Almshouse Institution were a microcosm of the local government construction of the Nanjing National Government.From the historical changes of the Baoding Almshouse Institution,we can look at the various tries and many attempts to establish an early modernized country after the establishment of the Nanjing National Government.Through the window of Baoding Almshouse Institution,we can see the interaction between Baoding Almshouse Institution and the country and society,as well as the general characteristics of social changes in modern China.
